School Safety Training

The Cumberland Police Department recently completed important training dealing with School Safety. The training will help Officers responding to incidents like those recently seen at Fort Hood, Texas as well as school shootings like those at Columbine High School in Colorado. While these events are rare,Police Officers must prepare for them using the most current training techniques available. The training was located at a local school and officers practiced techniques used to neutralize violent offenders in a close quarters setting.

The Cumberland Police Department is releasing this information pursuant to RI
General Laws, also known as the Sexual Offender Registration and Community Notification Act. These individuals are subject to community notification of their pending release.
