SRO - School Resource Officers


The SRO program has been at the high school for 8 years. Officer Kolek plays a proactive role and has a positive impact as he works closely with faculty, staff and students. The main roles he has are Security and Safety, Law Enforcement, Teacher and Informal Counselor. Officer Kolek spends the majority of his day interacting with students and assisting staff with safety and legal issues. He is a liaison for the Cumberland Crime Stoppers, a member of the Substance Abuse Task Force and the R. I. Drug Enforcement Officers Association. He is also a certified RadKids instructor.



Officer David Payson is an eleven year veteran of the department and works as the School Resource Officer at McCourt Middle School as well as North Cumberland Middle School. The School Resource Officer program has been active in the Middles Schools for seven years, and continues to play a proactive role and have a positive impact. School Resource Officers work closely with school administrators, teachers and support staff.

Officer Payson spends the majority of his day interacting with students in various capacities. Payson is responsible for traffic enforcement before and after school, attends after-school sporting events, PTO meetings, dances, and assist in peer meditation programs. He also meets with students individually and handles law enforcement related issues.
